INSCRIBED FIRST EDITION. Octavo, pp. 159, [1]. Eight double sided monochrome plates of paintings by Norman Cornish. Publisher’s red faux leather with gilt titles to spine, in unclipped pictorial laminated jacket. Cover slightly scuffed; a little light foxing, mainly to endpapers and text-block edge. Charming inscription form the Author to ffep: “For Connie, with all my love & best wishes, Sid Chaplin. The good trees give apples in & out of season!”. Jacket white panels lightly toned and soiled, with creases to flaps. A Very Good copy in like jacket.
 
Collection of 42 essays and insights mainly centred around the North East, illustrated with paintings by Norman Cornish, and including titles such as ‘A Song for my Darling Alice’ and ‘The Matter of Northumbria’.
