FIRST EDITION. Square octavo pp. [8], 103. Colour frontispiece with tissue guard and 30 illustrations by Frank Adams. Publishers’ scarlet cloth with gilt titles to spine and vignette to upper board in unclipped pictorial dust-jacket. Spine a touch toned and tips lightly creased; free endpapers toned next to jacket flaps, with minor staining from boards to ffep upper corner and front jacket flap. Small damp stain to upper corner of frontispiece & guard leaf (corner only so image unaffected). Light foxing to front endpapers and text-block edge; no annotation or inscriptions. Jacket a little soiled with nicks & creases, with minor loss to spine tips and corners. A Very Good copy in Good jacket.
Charming tale of King Psammitichus, who came to the throne of Egypt at “seven and a half last birthday”, and his court of animals. Scarce in the original Frank Adams dust-jacket.
