Scarce history of the little known French expedition to Ireland in December 1796, in which the British Navy failed to prevent the French fleet from reaching Bantry Bay in Cork. Nonetheless, the French did not manage to land men or weapons. Based on French archives and original documents in the Public Record Office, as well as previously unpublished sources.
