Second printing. Quarto, pp. xxviii, 218. Stylised Celtic horse frontispiece, with traditional Celtic decorative band to head and tail of each page. Publisher’s dark brown quarter morocco over crimson cloth, with matching gilt Celtic knot motifs to upper and lower boards and gilt titles to spine. Top edge gilt; crimson endpapers; housed in a matching gold slipcase with crimson stylised Celtic horse motif to one panel. An exceptionally clean copy with no annotations or inscriptions. Slipcase lightly bruised to tail, with a few tiny barely visible marks to one panel. Near fine.
 
Bilingual edition of the epic Old English poem, translated by the Nobel prize winning Irish poet Seamus Heaney. Old English with Heaney’s modern English translation on the opposite page for easy reference. This edition follows the text of the 1999 Faber & Faber edition, with minor emendations, with beautiful illustrations throughout by Becca Thorne. Heavyweight so a contribution towards increased postage costs will be requested for overseas delivery.
