Fourth Bethune Edition. Octavo, pp. [10], cxi, [1], 249, [1]; 210, 4 catalogue. Walton portrait frontispiece, 4 plates, 19 vignettes of fish within text and 5 pages of musical notation as called for. Publishers’ original brown finely diced cloth with foliate border in blind to boards, gilt titles and fish motif to spine, and gilt fishing motif to upper board; primrose yellow endpapers. Unobtrusive damp-staining to lower edge of boards; spine lightly sunned, with gilt dulled. Endpapers a little discoloured; plate of the ‘Hamilton Free Library’ to verso ffep but no other signs of library use; ownership inscriptions in both ink and pencil to ffep. Lacking Cotton portrait frontispiece to Part II. Scattered light foxing otherwise contents clean. A very good copy.
