FIRST UK EDITION. Octavo, pp. 358, [2]. Colour frontispiece from “The Bullfighter” by Juan Gris and 81 monochrome photographs. Publishers’ brown cloth with black titles to spine and upper board. Jacket rear panel and flap loosely inserted (jacket spine and upper cover lacking). Cover cloth lightly toned as usual and rubbed with minor wear at corners; slightly shaken. Small portions of maroon dust-jacket stuck to paste-down endpapers; scattered light foxing throughout, and 2 cm closed tear to single leaf affecting margin only. A very good copy overall.
Hemingway’s study of Spanish bullfighting, illustrated with many graphic images of matadors at work with bulls in the ring. Hemingway visted the Pamplona Festival in the 1920s and became a keen afficianado of the sport.
