First Edition. Inscribed Presentation Copy. Square octavo, pp., ix, [1], 236. Publishers’ blue cloth with gilt titles to spine; decoration in gilt and blind to upper board, and in blind to lower; primrose yellow endpapers. Gift inscribed to the half-title by Lady Ferguson, the Author’s wife, to the Alexandra College Literary Society and dated Nov. 1887. With four pages of A5 notes by Lady Ferguson loosely inserted. Ex-library copy with shelf number to inscribed label to spine and accession number and mininal unobtrusive stamps of the Alexandra College Literary Society. Cover cloth rubbed, with mark to upper board whwer a leble has been removed and minor wear to corners and spine tips. Remains of paper label to front paste-down; endpapers lightly soiled and half-title toned. A good copy with an impeccable provenance.
