Publishers’ finely reeded navy blue cloth with bevelled boards, gilt titles to spine and gilt armorial to upper board; top edge gilt. Binding a little worn at spine tips and corners. Front hinge cracked but holding; first two gatherings starting to come loose due to broken stitching. Contemporary gift inscription in ink to verso of front free end-paper dated 1897. Ownership inscription in a different hand to half-title. A good copy.
Account of the work of the Winchester College Mission by the Priest-in-Charge at St Agatha’s, Landport, who here records the conditions in which the residents were living and the aid the church was able to offer. Father Dolling (1851-1902) was an Irish Anglo-Catholic priest in the district.
