Small octavo, pp. 26. Back quarter roan with paper-covered plaid-patterned boards and primrose yellow endpapers. Spine scuffed and boards worn to edge; contents almost detached from covers but holding on. Two ownership inscriptions to ffep, one in pencil and the other in ink, and another in ink to title-page. Leaves lightly toned and foxed; first 4 leaves corner creased with loss to tips of pp. 1-4; small nicks without loss to fore-edge pp. 15-18 and pp. 23-26. A fair copy.
Rare pedigree compiled from Capt. Walter Scott’s Genealogical Essays, Nisbet’s and Mackenzie’s Heraldry and Douglas’ Scotch Baronage, and from family manuscripts. The parish of Simonburn, near Bellingham in Northumberland, was once one of the largest in the country; this work lists the generations of the family from thirteenth century Scotland up to publication.
