With two plates of which one fold-out, plus decorative head- and tail-pieces throughout, seperate title to Medico-Physical Essays. Full contemporary calf with five raised bands and Cambridge style panels to boards with blind-stamped embellishments. Spine rubbed with slightly cracked joints but holding well; wear to spine tips and corners. Stain to front endpapers and prelims; very small scorch mark with associated minor loss affecting permargin only pp. 29-81, and some toning & offsetting. Generally a clean copy.

Chapters reflect the health concerns of the day, including gout and venereal diseases, and the Aphorisms contain much on perspiration, affections of the mind and sleep.
