Fore-edge painting in colour featuring Harry Potter and his wand in front of Dumbledore, which can be seen on the artist’s own website. Near fine book with artist Martin Frost’s signed label dated 2018 to verso of front free end-paper. Fore-edge painting is the art of decorating the edges of the pages of a book, visible only when the pages are fanned out. The craft is regarded as critically endangered by the Heritage Crafts Association and there are only a handful of fore-edge painters working in the UK today, of which Martin Frost is the best known. As well as Frost’s beautiful fore-edge painting, this 20th anniversary edition of “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” has an introduction, map and illustrations in addition to the original text, as well as further additional material including a quiz and appendix to rear. £425.00
