With 16 tipped in colour illustrations, including frontispiece, with tipped in, numbered hand-printed etching, SIGNED by the artist. Quarter vellum over blue cloth, vellum tips to corners, paper covered boards blocked in three metallic foils, titles blocked in 22-carat gold to spine; upper edges gilt; cornflower blue pictorial endpapers and navy silk place-marker ribbon. Printed on Cordier Wove paper and housed in a navy blue solander box, with titles label laid on and promotional materials laid-in. An extremely handsome copy, which is in Fine condition. The book is still wrapped in tissue paper and appears unread. Slipcase is in similarly Fine condition. Number 146 in a limited edition of only 1,000 copies, published to celebrate the poem’s 150th anniversary. Sumptuous edition which contains Fitzgerald’s English verse translation, along with an Introduction by A. S. Byatt, Omar Khayyam Biography and Notes by Edward Fitzgerald, and glorious illustrations by Niroot Puttapipat.
