Published following Armstrong Whitworth’s brief but fruitful venture into building and modifying locomotives at the Scotswood Works on the River Tyne, which had previously been used for arms production during the Great War. The firm rapidly dominated the market constructing a total of 1464 locomotives at Scotswood before it reverted to armaments manufacture in 1937 in the foreshadow of WWII. Featuring 19 black and white photographs of Armstrong Whitworth locomotives set within decorative cartouche frames with detailed specifications on facing page. This work should be of considerable interest to railway enthusiasts and those researching North East Industrial history. Rare, COPAC list no copies in UK institutions.
