Near contemporary full red morocco by the Hampstead Bindery with 5 raised bands, gilt titles and decoration to spine and double gilt fillet to boards; gilt dentelles ; top edge gilt. Pictorial bookplate to front paste-down; scattered light foxing; 1851 frontispiece creased from mis-folding and small ink blot to front wrapper 1853 issue otherwise contents clean. An excellent copy in a handsome binding. The last four issues of a work originally published in 19 volumes and scarce in original state; copiously illustrated throughout by George Cruikshank at the height of his career. £280.00
