Second Edition. Small octavo, pp. 126, [2] Catalogue. Frontispiece engraving of Lewes Castle, plus numerous illustrations throughout text. Publishers’ original decorative cloth with foliate design and broder in blind to boards, and gilt roundel to upper board with Lewes title and armorial; primrose yellow endpapers. Corners bruised and spine tips a little rubbed. Ownership inscriptions to front paste-down and front free end-paper in ink, leaves toned with light foxing. A very good copy.
 
Second edition of the first guide book to the historic town of Lewes, with a short history including the battle of 1264, brief biographies of local notables and descriptions of local landmarks, architecture and antiquities. Scarce.
