A Lifetime of exciting happenings... pioneers who went out undaunted to face dangers such as one may say does not exist today”.

Account of Tierra del Fuego and the native Fuegians, with the life of Thomas Bridges who moved there with his family as missionaries, and his son ‘Don’ Lucas who explored the mountains and lived and hunted with the Ona people. A. F. Tschiffley, the famous Swiss-born Argentine professor and adventurer, famously recorded his experiences of a solo horseback journey from Argentina to Washington D. C. in “Tschiffely’s Ride” (1933). He personally knew Lucas Bridges, read the original manuscript of this work and and warmly recommends the book both in his introduction and in his inscription. Publishers’ jade green cloth with gilt titles to black panel to spine, in unclipped cream pictorial dust-jacket. Binding surface soiled & scuffed, with bruised corners and lower edge. Bookplate of one Joseph Cresswell to verso front free endpaper and tidy ownership inscription to half-title. Contents clean and crisp. Jacket toned to spine and reinforced to verso with brown paper tape; small loss to edge, and some browned adhesive tape repairs. A very good copy in a good dust-jacket.
