Number VIII of only 15 copies in special numbered binding (of a total of 230 copies). With an introduction by Sir Thomas Parry. Printed on hand-made paper by Wookey Hole Mill. Welsh text throughout. Bound in the publishers’ full olive green morocco with gilt titles to forest green panel to spine and floral decoration blocked in forest green to upper board embellished with 31 hand-tooled gilt circles; binding designed by Joan Rix Tebbutt and bound by Sydney Cockerell, with their monogram to rear paste-down. Calligraphic page headings printed in various colours designed by Ieuan Rees. Top-edge trimmed, others uncut. Housed in the original publisher’s substantial light green cloth-covered clam-shell box with felt lining. Signed complimentary letter from Eric Gee on Gregynog headed paper laid-in. A fine copy in like box.
Parry (1884-1956) was influenced by the Romantic and Georgian poets, and was one of the luminaries of the twentieth century Welsh poetry scene, winning the Chair at the 1910 National Eisteddfod. Necessarily rare as one of only fifteen special bindings. Heavyweight so a contribution towards increased postage costs will be requested for overseas delivery.
