Publisher’s canary yellow cloth with navy titles to spine and navy bamboo border design to upper board, with photographic onlay to upper board with stylised dragon border. Endpapers show light toning otherwise internally clean, with no annotations or inscriptions. Boards are lightly soiled with surface loss to corners and lower board. Overall, very good condition. Volume covering life in two areas of western China at the beginning of the 20th century, illustrated throughout with numerous photographs and with chapters exploring a variety of topics such as social customs, education and religions of China as well as the Christian missions, Friends' mission, the American Friends in China.
