Three works in one volume. First Edition “Art of Graveyard Monuments” one of 1000 copies and Second Edition one of 750 copies; First Edition of Graveyard Memorials. Octavo, pp. 27, [1]; 30, [2]; 17, [3]. With 12 plates to “Graveyard Memorials” as called for. All with original paper wrappers bound-in. Black cloth with gilt titles to spine, and blind stamp of Liverpool Public Libraries to lower board. Ex-library copies in with shelf number to spine, and City of Liverpool Reference Library plates inside lower wrappers and to rear paste-down. Paper wrappers and endpapers a little creased otherwise contents clean. A very good copy. All scarce works, the first two being Reports by a Special Committee of the Institute on the Present Position of Monumental Art in Great Britain, and the third the Report of a Special Committee of the British Institute of Industrial Art. The Second Edition of “Art of Graveyard Monuments” was published five months after the First, and was extensively revised; the aim of these works was to advise on the “Best Means of Raising the Standard of Simpler Graveyard Monuments” and both Special Committees were chaired by Sir Hubert Llewellyn Smith. Subjects covered include the materials used, suitable British stones for churchyard use, and design. £95.00
