Light toning to some pages and small damp staining to lower margin from pp 33-64 (text unaffected). Free from inscriptions, annotations, and ownership marks. A very good copy.
Engrossing travel journal evocatively describing Michel Bernard’s excursions through early 19th century Germany. Bernard lived a colourful life, he was present at the Fall of the Bastile, served as the French ambassador to the United States during the Quasi War and Was a member of a secret Masonic society.
