Ralph Palliser Milbanke Hudson (1891-1920). A posthumously published, engrossing history of Hudson’s family home, the Medieval Wolfelee House, near Hawick on the Scottish Borders. The house was immortalised by Sir Walter Scott as “Wolfs Crag Castle” and inspired John Ruskin to commend it with having “the most beautiful views in the United Kingdom”. Gift inscribed “To Miss Mary [indecipherable], in memoriam from, R. Millbanke Hudson” presumably by the author’s father, to the front-free end-paper. Rare.
