Thucydides’ “The Peloponnesian War” tells of the war in the 5th century BC between Athens and Sparta and their respective allies. Written by Thucydides during the war, he based the work on his own eyewitness accounts and other primary sources. Critics regard the history as a reliable and neutral account of the war which changed the ancient Greek world. This edition is translated by Martin Hammond, and was first published by Oxford University Press in 2009. Strikingly illustrated by Nick Hayes with an introduction by Katherine Harloe and P. J. Rhodes. Heavyweight, so a contribution towards increased postage costs will be requested for overseas delivery.
