Bound in publisher’s grey paper over boards with title and ornaments to upper board, cloth strip to spine. Boards lightly foxed and soiled with chip to top corner. Front hinge starting but holding. Blue decorative ownership stamp to f.f.e.p. else contents clean, bright, and free from foxing and annotations.
Scarce collection of provincially printed poems in the Geordie dialect by autodidact miner-poet Alexander Barrass. Barrass went down the pit at the age of 9 years old and the collection addresses the exploitative conditions of nineteenth century mining with humour and pathos.
