Collector’s edition. Octavo, pp., 311. Colour frontispiece and single monochrome plate. Bound in black calf, with gilt titles to spine and decorative gilt to covers, all edges gilt. Copper silk moire end papers, contrasting plain brown silk place-marker ribbon. Publisher’s prospectus loosely inserted. Publisher’s “Great Books of the 20th Century” bookplate inscribed by “D.K. Phillips”. A touch of light water staining to top edge of front paste-down, half title and prospectus. Otherwise near fine.
 
Easton Press collector’s edition of Ken Kesey’s cult classic story of free spirit Randle McMurphy, who avoids prison by feigning insanity only to find himself in a much more profound struggle for freedom on a psychiatric ward dominated by the cold, tyrannical Nurse Ratched. The book was later adapted into a multi award winning film starring Jack Nicholson.
