It tells of the love story between the mortal human Beren and the immortal elf Lúthien. Tolkien drew inspiration for the tale from his love for his wife, Edith; Tolkien and his wife’s gravestones bear the names Beren and Lúthien respectively. Beautifully illustrated by Alan Lee.
