Cream vellum to boards, titles gilt to brown leather spine-label, block-printed patterned endpapers, edges mottled red, shelf-mark in contemporary hand inscribed to spine. Woodcut vignette to title, woodcut initial letter, and 7 seven woodcut tailpieces. Book label of the Bishopric of Montreal to front paste-down, stamp of the Archbishopric of Montreal embossed to title-page. Note in contemporary hand to verso of front free endpaper reads ‘Scanzia [i.e. edition] A. A. 4, no 35’ suggesting the binding is of Italian provenance. Soiling to boards, hinges cracked. Front free endpaper detached, title-page slightly burned to lower quarter, loss to pp. 115-116, contents otherwise clean. A good copy.
