First edition, square quarto, pp., 256. Lavishly illustrated with full colour reproductions of his paintings, drawings and letters throughout. Publisher’s black cloth covered boards, with silver titles to spine, in an illustrated unclipped dust-jacket. Dust-jacket a little scuffed to lower panel, with a touch of creasing and one small closed tear to top edge of upper panel, otherwise near fine.
A modern surrealist, Trevelyan (1910-1988) exhibited his work alongside Dali, Miro and Picasso. In a career spanning 65 years his bright and positive work had broad appeal but still allowed for viewers to form their own interpretation. His son, documentary film maker Philip Trevelyan, takes the reader through a pictorial journey of his father’s life and works, with added insights gleaned from his own personal knowledge and views.
