The dust-jacket spine is slightly toned but is otherwise very well preserved with no tears or chips. A near fine book in a like dust-jacket.
Henry William Williamson (1 December 1895 – 13 August 1977) was a prolific writer of novels concerning wildlife, the countryside, English social history, and the First World War. First published in 1927 Tarka the Otter won the Hawthornden Prize in 1928 and has never been out of print. Williamson’s writing style is descriptive and poetic without resorting to sentimentality or anthropomorphisation, and refusing to shy away from the reality of the violence and cruelty of hunting.
