The last major work of John Wickham Legg (1843 –1921) this is a new and revised edition of the pattern for worship in Latin, originating from St Osmund second bishop of Sarum [Salisbury Cathedral], based on the text of three original manuscripts. The Sarum Rite has a unique ecumenical position in that it is authorised for liturgical use in the Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox and Anglican Churches. This copy belonged to Frederick Brittain (1893-1969) the first lecturer in Medieval Latin at Cambridge University, and contains a letter from a subsequent owner dated 1991.
