Limited to only 100 copies, of which this is number 23. Octavo, pp. ix, [3], 307, [1]. Bound in publisher’s rose red cloth over boards with gilt titles to spine. A very good copy, with the master of weird fiction Machen’s distinctive signature to the limitation leaf. Cloth somewhat sunned, soiled and watermarked, with rubbing and creasing to spine tips and corners. With a contemporary ownership inscription of one Catherine Longar to front paste-down. Originally privately published for the Society of Pantegruelists in 1888, The Chronicle of Clemendy was Machen’s first published collection of works. Rare.
