The Divan of Hafiz is the most famous poem by the most famous of Iranian lyrical poets Hafez, or Hafiz (1325-1390) and is regarded as a pinnacle of Persian literature. The book has been copied and analysed more than any other Iranian literary work and has had a significant impact on the culture of the country. Bell’s verse translations out of the original Farsi were well-regarded, and praised by critics. This was only Bell’s second published work and her only book of poetry. The first printing is extremely rare.
