Contemporary Dutch artist herman de vries (1931-) is a known for his drawings and installations. The random drawings were created in de Vries’ first years as a full-time artist, after he moved to Eschenau, Germany. Deriving from the organising principles of chance and probability, lines, stripes, fields, dots, circles acquire their place in the composition through chance. He defines his art, without figuration or colour, as ‘informal’.
