Handbill, approximately 15 x 18.5 cm, mounted to plain paper and cut to size. Titled in bold capitals. Date annotated to upper corner in contemporary hand. Repair to tear approximately 4cm, a little light soiling to edges. A very good copy.
Handbill voicing the demands of trade unionist miners towards their employers, and requesting aid from local residents. The handbill was produced in the context of workers of ‘Hepburn’s Union’ engaging in a strike in 1831, which was ultimately successful, and would go on to be the model for other miner’s unions.
