FIRST EDITION. Landscape quarto, pp. [12]. Complete and unmade colour chromolithographic tableaux models to each leaf. With accompanying story and instructions to each tableaux. Bound in illustrated thin card publisher’s wrappers. Wrappers bright and vibrant, free from nicks, tears and chips, lightly rubbed to spine. Contents clean and bright with no ownership marks, inscriptions or annotations, chromolithographs vivid. Very good. Very rare paper model book containing three multidimensional tableauxes by British artist Victor Hicks (1893-1946). As well as specialising in children’s model books, all now very scarce, Hicks designed highly stylised industrial posters for the Ministry of Labour during WWII which defined British propaganda art of the period. Only two other copies of the “Tableaux Book” are recorded, held at the V & A Museum in London and the Bodleian Library in Oxford [COPAC]. Date taken from Bodleian Library record. £75.00
