Francis Fry F.S.A. (1803-1886) was a collector and bibliographer whose facsimile of Tyndale’s New Testament (1525 or 1526) was the first complete edition of the book in English. Fry dedicated his bibliographical studies to the printing of early Protestant Bibles, collating copies from across Europe. This bibliographical study of William Tyndale’s version is drawn from over forty editions, and was the first bibliography to discover many of the variants between copies. Elegantly printed, with extensive lithographic facsimile plates of relevant bibliographical material, this is one of the great works of nineteenth-century English bibliography. Rare.
