Publisher’s navy cloth with gilt title to spine and an illustration of Oedipus blocked in red to upper board in an unclipped, pictorial dust-jacket with an image of Oedipus. Top edge stained red. A bright, near fine copy.
A take on the ancient legend of Oedipus, famous as being the basis for one of Sigmund Freud’s most controversial theories. Treece considers both Freud’s interpretation and the other side of Oedipus’ tragedy in this novel. Inscribed by Henry Treece to his lifelong friend Peter Stattersfield and dated the year (probably just a month or two) before publication.
