A collection of facsimile drawings by two of the early eighteenth-century’s finest architects. Sir John Vanburgh is best known as designer of Blenheim Palace and Howard Castle. Sir Edward Lovett Peace trained under Vanburgh, and went on to design the Irish Houses of Parliament in Dublin. The drawings and plans within show both architects at work, and are accompanied by an extensive catalogue. Produced for members of the Roxburghe Club, the oldest society of bibliophiles in the world, which has a limited membership of 40 only. Necessarily rare.
