FIRST EDITION. Large octavo, pp., xv, 312. Photographic portrait frontispiece of Percy Harrison Fawcett in 1911; numerous photographic plates; headpiece illustrations and illustration to half-title by Brian Fawcett. Original dark green cloth with gilt titles to spine; sketch map endpapers, in an illustrated dust-jacket. Some water marks to the boards, light toning and foxing on the text-block edges, contents clean and bright. The dust jacket is sunned to the spine, with creases and tears to the head, tail and corners. A good book in a good jacket.

An account of the expeditions of Percy Harrison Fawcett (1867-1925), the British geographer, artillery officer, explorer and cartographer. The epitome of the Victorian adventurer he disappeared during his quest to find “Z”, the ancient lost city in Brazil. After Percy’s disappearance, his son Brian published this work in his memory. Scarce, particularly in the dust-jacket.
