8, plus frontispiece and 7 folding plates illustrating mathematical theorems. Bound with the introduction before dedication (as BL copy), and with the 2 errata leaves described in the Trinity copy. Printers’ device of John Playford to title-page. Contemporary brown sheep, blind rules to boards, blind rolls to sides, edges mottled red. Shallow insect damage to lower board, extremities rubbed with slight loss to spine head. Contents clean and crisp. A very good copy.
A rare work on Euclidean geometry. The body of the text consists of a substantial number of theorems and problems, many illustrated with plates. The frontispiece depicts a man in English garb writing geometry in the earth (as Euclid himself was said to do), with a striking neo-platonist depiction of the discovery of mathematical principles. A well preserved copy in a contemporary binding.
