Original publisher’s red cloth, rosette in blind to upper board, publisher’s device in blind to lower board; titled in gilt to spine. Spine sunned and cracked, shelf-wear to spine-tips; corners slightly rubbed; top edge dusty. Contents clean and neat. A very good copy.
The second volume of Garnett’s translations of Dostoevsky, executed between 1912 and 1920. Garnett’s ‘Russian Novels’ series ‘provoked a literary craze’, and introduced the works of Dostoevsky to an excited audience of British readers.
