Published while Irving was alive, this volume reprints twenty-six of Irving’s essays on American life, history, landscape, and character in a compact and attractive form. The former owner, Raymond Lister (1919-2001) was an English artistic ironworker and artist, as well as a scholarly authority of English Romantic art.
