Keats’ letters were first partially published in 1878, edited by Harry Buxton Forman (1842-1917). Forman then edited the standard edition of the letters for Keats’ centenary in 1895, which was republished in 1901. As described in the preface, this volume (compiled by Buxton Forman’s son, Maurice), is largely derived from volumes three and five of that 1901 edition, which contains the bulk of the correspondence to Fanny Brawne (1800-65). This edition published, for the first time, additional correspondence to the poet’s brothers, George and Tom, and a previously unseen letter to the wine merchant and coffee-man Richard Woodhouse (1760-1833).
