Publisher’s chocolate cloth, titled in gilt to spine. End-papers maps of the environs of the farm in green and black by C. F. Tunnicliffe. Publisher’s original unclipped buff jacket, titled in green to spine and upper panel, blurb to lower panel. Dust-jacket nicked to foot of spine, sympathetic paper repair to verso of head and lower panel, lower panel soiled. Patch of staining to cloth to foot of spine, corners lightly bumped with shelf-wear to extremities. Contents slightly toned, one page dog-eared, but generally neat. A solid, square copy. A good copy in very good jacket.
Williamson’s ‘moving and seemingly effortless’ account of his time at Old Hall Farm, Stiffkey. Williamson occupied Old Hall Farm from December 1937 to September 1945, and this volume describes the origins of the project in 1935, to the summer of 1939. Williamson begun a sequel, which became
