First Edition thus. Quarto, pp., [vi], 208, plus frontispiece and 8 colour stills from the MGM film, in-line illustrations by W. W. Denslow throughout text. Publisher’s original pictorial paper-covered boards. Corners bumped, rubbing to extremities, boards bright. Small doodle to front-free end-paper which has caused impressing to title-page, lightly foxed. A very good copy. The 1939 MGM edition of Baum’s most famous work. While the 1939 film spawned numerous reprints of the story, this MGM edition is notable as the first to substantially integrate the in-line illustrations from the 1900 first edition and stills from the film adaptation. £180.00
