Publisher’s forest green morocco-grain cloth, titled in gilt to spine, blind-stamped with floral geometric borders to boards. Former ownership inscription to front free end-paper. Spine rebacked, retaining original end-papers; shelf-wear to extremities; corners rubbed; a little light soiling to boards. Occasional spots of soiling to contents but plates generally clean, bright, and fresh. A solid, very well preserved copy.
A substantial album of large, well-coloured etchings of antiquities from Northumberland, to County Durham, to Yorkshire, to Cumbria. The illustrations include Norman book bindings, the ‘ancient’ pulpit of Jarrow Church, seventeenth-century furniture from Corby Castle, and a number of artefacts in private hands.
