Large octavo. Book Condition: Very Good. Full set, complete in eight matching volumes. Tan half calf with four raised bands, dark tan leather title and volume labels with gilt titles and gilt & blindstamped foliate decoration. All edges marbled to match marbled paper-covered boards. Each volume separately paginated, with 3 volumes of Legendary and 5 of Historical subjects. Edges & boards a little scuffed otherwise a superb set. Each volume bears the bookplate of W H Welford of Newcastle upon Tyne to front pastedown; W H was the brother of local historian Richard Welford & printer of the History of Gosforth.
