Engraved title page showing a scene of industry with workers, horse-drawn wagons of coal and belching chimneys; 8 geological plates plus line drawings and tables in text. Book Condition: Very Good. Original reeded bottle green cloth with foliate decoration in blind to boards; gilt titles to spine and to upper board, the latter inside a gilt cartouche. Pale primrose-yellow endpapers. Cover cloth scuffed, rubbed and a little bruised to edges and corners; lower rear joint just starting. Inner hinges weak but holding; scattered light foxing, mainly to endpapers. Intended as an annual publication this was the only published work in the series, produced by Lever's of Manchester, with their catalogue of industrial equipment to the rear printed on pink paper. Subject matter includes tables of Railway Acts, Railway Officials Directory, fossils and classification of rocks, descriptions of the various mining districts in Great Britain, ventilation, accidents and metal prices from 1782-1859. Scarce.
