FIRST EDITION. N.d., [1904]. Quarto. [86 pp]. Illustrated throughout with Wain’s characteristic animal drawings including colour frontispiece and pictorial title-page. Publishers’ original paper-covered boards, recently recased with new spine in sage green cloth with gilt titles. Advertisement endpapers; colour plate advertising Sunlight Soap loosely inserted. Boards worn to edges and corners and surface soiled, particularly to rear cream panel. Frontispiece repaired and soiled to edge, creased and lacking corners (illustration unaffected) with School Prize plate to recto dated 1906. Some finger-marking and corner creasing and sixth leaf nicked to edge with associated creasing. Full of typical Louis Wain cat illustrations and also featuring puppies, owls and other creatures including a rather nattily dressed Mr Monkey. Scarce. £200.00
