Appeal for information leading to the apprehension of thieves who broke into the Office at Benwell Colliery near Newcastle upon Tyne in March 1821; Benwell was one of the earliest collieries in Tyneside. The offenders took a considerable haul including coin, items of jewellery, two armorial seals with distinctive named designs and a small Screw-Barrelled Pistol, which was loaded. The large reward is indicative of the seriousness with which the robbery was taken by the authorities.
