Covers and title page lightly soiled and foxed; spine worn with loss; edges nicked & creased. A Little scattered foxing and a few leaves corner-creased otherwise contents clean. The publishers ad to p 2 states that the first printing of 5,000 copies sold within a few weeks and that the format of this second edition has been altered “in compliance with numerous suggestions... to allow of its going into a chess box unfolded” and that “the price has been increased to twopence... and is, beyond all question, the cheapest book on Chess ever published”.
